Serving Colorado's Counties

Technical Update vol. 26 no. 35 - Saying Farewell to Jon Wagner

August 30, 2022

Please join us in congratulating Jon Wagner, Loss Control Team Lead, on his retirement. Jon has been an integral part of CTSI’s Loss Control Team for the last 27 years. Jon joined CTSI in April 1995 and has been the Loss Control Team Lead since 2017. Jon is a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), where he served as past president of the Denver Chapter; he also holds a Certified Litigation Specialist designation from the Americans for Effective Law Enforcement organization and degrees in Occupational Safety & Health, Psychology, and Business.

Jon has been an invaluable member of the Loss Control Team, providing consultation, training, and auditing services and being the primary liaison for safety, loss control, and risk management advice. A certified MSHA and OSHA trainer, Jon developed the bulk of the CTSI’s loss control training programs and, over the past 27 years, has driven almost one million miles on Colorado roads presenting those programs to CTSI member counties.

Dana Foley, Jon Wagner, and Marylin Wagner

Many of our members know Jon for his dedication to making Colorado counties a safer place to work by helping establish safety committees and providing advice on policies and best practices for day-to-day tasks. Jon strived to have a training style that was both informative and entertaining. He will be remembered for his dedication to finding solutions to questions or issues from counties. According to Meredith Burcham, CTSI Executive Director, “Jon always provided his expertise and knowledge to assist counties in putting safety for employees first. He understood the counties needs and was committed to assisting them daily. He has been a pleasure to work with, and we are looking forward to having his loss control expertise as he continues as a consultant for CTSI.”

What This Means for Counties

Jon’s expertise and knowledge will be missed, but his legacy of working with member counties to create safe workplaces continues at CTSI. Jon’s retirement began on August 16th, 2022. Please contact Marylin Wagner (mwagner@ctsi.org), the new Loss Control Team Lead, or Dana Foley (dfoley@ctsi.org), the newest member of the Loss Control team, for your Loss Control needs.
